Mr12Volt MOST Optical Ring Bridge - Female Test Loop
Restore sound and chase down faults on your vehicle’s optical audio network with this Mr12Volt female loop plug. This compact continuity bridge closes the Media Oriented Systems Transport ring during diagnostics so you can quickly identify a failing node and get your entertainment system talking again. Ideal for solving issues like no sound, intermittent audio, stuck on mute, SOS malfunction alerts and random dropouts on systems that use the standard optical interface.
What it does
- Creates a temporary optical bridge so you can isolate a faulty amplifier, tuner, gateway, CD changer, Bluetooth or telematics unit.
- Confirms whether the problem is a module transceiver or a damaged fibre lead or connector.
- Lets you keep the ring alive during testing so other modules power up and communicate correctly.
- Simple plug-in female coupler design for quick, repeatable workshop diagnostics.
Where it is typically used
Designed for vehicles fitted with a Media Oriented Systems Transport network and a standard-size optical connector. Common across many Audi, BMW, Mercedes-Benz, Porsche, Volkswagen and Volvo applications, including platforms such as MMI, iDrive, COMAND, PCM, RNS and Sensus when equipped with an optical ring. Some manufacturers use proprietary housings on specific components, especially certain BMW and Mercedes modules. Always check the connector on the exact unit you plan to bypass to ensure it is the standard optical fitting.
How to use it
- Power down the vehicle and allow systems to sleep.
- Unplug the fibre from the suspected module.
- Insert the Mr12Volt female test loop into the harness side to complete the ring.
- Wake the vehicle and check for restored audio and network activity.
- If the system works with the loop in place, the removed module is likely at fault.
Why choose this tool
- Fast fault-finding on optical audio rings without cutting or modifying wiring.
- Durable, workshop-ready loop plug that withstands repeated use.
- Proven in our own diagnostics at MJ Modifications - our technicians and customers rate it highly for saving time and avoiding guesswork.
